BB and the AngelDrove to Newcastle at 11:00 am via Scarborough station to drop Warren off for the train back to London. He is producing six soundtrack albums for me which should be ready in a couple of weeks on Cube Records.

I have played The City Hall in Newcastle many times over the years. With Marty Wilde, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent and of course, Cliff and the Shads.

The sound of the room is great, the drums resonate perfectly without much amplification and the audiences are the warmest anywhere.

It’s Hank and Bruce’s home town so it’s always special for them to come back. 'My Home Town' is a song they wrote with John Farrar and it’s all about a boy who dreams of leaving home for the bright lights of a new city to find fame and fortune.

My hometownOne of these days

I’m gonna pack my bags and take a train to some big city

Where the lights are bright and I know all the girls are pretty

My home folk where raised in the smoke

Of fiery factory chimney stacks

That gave you work but in return they choked you

Newcastle: old and new

Great lyrics and a brilliant song.

Well, on this trip to their home town, I didn’t recognise the place! It’s a clean and vibrant place now and the new architecture is stunning.
